Theresa Andrews

We also have 2 time Olympic Gold Medalist, Theresa Andrews volunteering with the Hurricanes and Jr/Sr/NTT groups. Theresa has been a resident of Delaware for the past 5 or 6 years and is now looking to get back into coaching. As an “age group” swimmer, Coach Andrews swam at the North Baltimore Aquatic Club. Many of you may recognize the name of that club! (Once home to Michael Phelps). Coach Andrews later went on to win gold at the ’84 Olympics in both the 100 m Backstroke, and the 400 Medley Relay.


Stu Arasim (Age Group Coach)

Coach Stu is currently in his 8th season as a member of the BRY staff.
This season Coach Arasim will be working primarily with the Hurricane group.
Another BRY coach with over 20 years of experience, Stu works hard to encourage swimmers and to provide them with positive instruction in a positive environment.
Outside of the pool, Stu has been teaching for over 20 years.
He currently works as a History teacher at Hanby Middle.
Coach Arasim lives in Fairfax with his daughter Haley.


Chris Belair (Assistant Senior Team Coach)

Coach Belair brings over 20 years of experience to the BRY program.
Chris began his coaching career within the NBSL, later coaching both High School and year round age group swimmers in the Wilmington area. Chris has served as an Eastern Zone coach for USA Swimming, and he’s coached a countless number of National level athletes. Coach Belair takes great pride in developing swimmers with strong character. Chris is currently in his 4th year as a member of the BRY staff.
While not at the pool, Chris is a History teacher at Concord High School.

Nancy Dornstauder (Mini Coach)

Coach Nancy is starting her 6th season working with Gail and the Mini swimmers.
She recently attended the Eastern States Coaching Clinic, and works hard to provide our Mini’s with quality instruction.
Nancy lives in Newark with her husband Mark, and her two swimmers Kristen and Karl.


Mike Frigm


Gail Glynn (Mini Coach)

Coach Gail is currently in her 8th season as Mini Coach at BRY.
She brings over 30 years of coaching experience to the Mini Group.
Coach Gail has coached summer league teams, year round age group teams, and coached her way to several state titles as Head Coach at Ursaline High School in the 80’s.
Coach Gail has worked hard to create the finest and most well rounded developmental competitive program in the state.


Meredith Griffin

We are very excited to have Meredith Griffin on our coaching staff. Meredith has over 10 years of head coaching experience and served as Head Coach at the Y of the Triangle Area during much of the time. YOTA won YMCA Nationals last April. She swam at the University of Iowa in college. Meredith also serves on the National Planning Committee and is the East Field Coordinator. She will be working with the hurricane and junior groups.

John Herron (Age Group Coach)

This season marks the start of Coach John’s 3rd season as an Age Group Coach at BRY.
John works with most every BRY practice group, focusing primarily on the Whirlwind, Tidal Wave, and Cyclone groups.
Over the past few years Coach John has attended several national trainings, most recently traveling to Indianapolis to study with a current member of the USA Olympic Team coaching staff, Milt Nelms.
When not at the pool, John is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education at Del Tech.


Jeremy Nelson (Age Group Coach)

Coach Jeremy works as an assistant with the Cyclones, Tidal Waves, and Senior groups.
Jeremy has been on the BRY staff for 6 years, and as attended several National level coaching workshops.
Recently engaged, coach Jeremy lives in Kennett Square with his fiancée and recently retired BRY coach, Alicia.
Jeremy attends Widener Law School by day.


John Pierson (Head Coach)

Serving as Head Coach at BRY for the past 8 years,
Coach Pierson has developed one of the finest coaching crews and volunteer groups in the Middle Atlantic area.
Certified as a Level IV coach through the American Swimming Coaches Association, certified both through USA Swimming and YMCA Swimming, Coach Pierson continually attends Olympic Training Center clinics and symposiums.
Coach Pierson has led the BRY swim team to an unprecedented level of success, both in and out of the pool, and in the development of well rounded young adults.
Coach Pierson has coached 26 YMCA National Championship qualifiers, many of whom are still studying and swimming at the collegiate level.
Coach Pierson is a graduate of Virginia Tech where he studied Biology, and Rowan University where he received his secondary ed. certification.
He lives in Bellefonte with his wife Laura, his little swimmer Kira, and their dog Bab-o.


Sheryce Quinn (Age Group Coach)

Coach Quinn, currently in her 3rd year as a BRY coach, works primarily with the Whirlwinds and Cyclones. Coach Quinn has attended several ASCA trainings and is a positive force at practices.
Sheryce has two swimmers of her own, Lilly and Savannah, and lives in North Wilmington with her husband Mark.


Anna Seiffert

Anna Seiffert has been helping Coach John in the office. Anna is a recent graduate of Cornell where she swam and played water polo. She is a former BRY swim team member and now is a Montessori teacher. Please feel free to contact her about any questions or concerns regarding the swim team. Lee Sparks

Another new face around the pool is Lee Sparks. He will be working with the Hurricane group. Lee has been coaching for over 20 years and has a son that swims in college. He also serves on the YMCA of DE Association Board. By day he is an architect.


Dan Swezey

The BRY coaching team is proud to have Dan as part of our staff. After attending Unionville High School in PA where he was a member of their swim team, Dan went on to attend the University of Delaware. Dan is a currently a resident at the Mary Campbell Center. During Dan’s college years he was in a near fatal car accident. As a result of that accident he has some limitations that present themselves as “life challenges”. Dan is a strong and determined individual and brings an additional element of diversity that strengthens the BRY program


Caitlyn Walker

Caitlyn is currently in college and is a graduate of Ursuline High School. Caitlyn has been working with the Mini Barracudas for the past 3 years helping out Gail and Nancy.
